The Alibi is a thriller by Texas author, Sandra Brown. The novel is narrated in first person by protaganist, Hammond Cross, who is a District Prosecutor in South Carolina. When a well-knwon and wealthy landowner is killed and the police scramble to find a culprit, it is through the wits and smarts of Hammond, fellow prosecutor Steffi Mundel, and heavily feared Detective Rory Smilow as they uncover the motive and truth which hides itself behind South Carolina's traditional society.
