This series has alot of twist and turns, making you want more and more. Confused about whats right or wrong in the book, or who you should consider the villian or hero.
At times you cant stop laughing, while at other times, your heart just stops in love.

*wipes away tears* I think this is one of the best romance novels i have ever read, i dont think it has much meaning to it though, except to go for what you want, not holding back. The art work is amazing, very well done with great style and quality.

Chrono Crusade Volume 1

Chrono Crusade Volume 1

By: Daisuke Moriyama
Reviewed by: gothiclolitamaiden, 15
Rating: Really liked it

Chrono Crusade is about Rosette Christopher, a demon-exorcising nun, and her assistant, the demon Chrono. The plot may seem unoriginal at first and the art is more functional than eye-catching, but the series makes up for that with interesting characters and intricately detailed character designs (Chrono's true form is almost drool-worthy).

The author obviously did his research on Catholic doctrine and mythology before writing the series, though it is somewhat unrealistic. For example, exorcists don't generally use guns (last I checked) and some of the outfits look more Victorian than 1920s.

One problem I have with the series is that there is no established antagonist as of the first volume. I'm hoping that a worthy bad guy or guys will emerge in following volumes. The relationship between Rosette and Chrono is both intriguing and comedic. I look forward to learning more about the characters' back stories. The author uses a lot of backgrounds, but some panels still go without them.

Another problem is fanservice. There are a lot of shots of Rosette's skirt flying up (sometimes she's wearing bloomers to preserve her modesty, sometimes she's...not). I still can't figure out how old Rosette really is. The full color art in the beginning is a nice bonus, and the comic in the back is unrelated to the story, but funny.

This is one of Sarah Dessen's newer books, and you don't need to hav read any of her others before picking this one up, though you may want to read the other ones immediately after finishing this one! Sarah Dessen is, in my opinion, just as if not more addictive than Stephanie Meyer. I know, hard to believe, right? The book starts out with a girl named Macy Queen who unfortunately had to watch her father die. This is what people in town know her as, until she reinvents herself through working with an eccentric group of people in a catering business. Her mother doesn't exactly approve, and Macy starts having problems with her boyfriend around the time Macy's mother stats disapproving. This is a fairly light read; it's not very hard to understand, though it may make you cry near the end. It's funny, sad, and meaningful, all rolled into one fantastic piece of literature.

Revelations: A Blue Bloods Novel

Revelations: A Blue Bloods Novel

By: Melissa De La Cruz
Reviewed by: gothiclolitamaiden, 15
Rating: Really liked it

The Blue Bloods series takes place in New York, where an upper class composed of vampires runs the city behind the scenes. Revelations is the third book in the Blue Bloods series, and like its predecessors, it leaves the reader on a cliffhanger. (Side Note: I went on De La Cruz's website and looked at her writing tips, not surprisingly, she recommended the use of cliffhangers.) The series is very interesting, full of intrigue, tangled up romantic relationships and some action. However, the author, instead of developing her characters, uses well-known character stereotypes.

Mimi is the typical mean girl (stylish, cruel and determined to have her way), which is evident from the beginning, Oliver is the loyal friend who has a crush on his best friend, Lawrence is the grandfather figure, and Jack is the talented and crush-worthy bad boy who catches the heroine's heart. Some of the characters, instead of being stereotypes, are barely developed at all, including Schuyler, Bliss, and Dylan. I am thankful that Bliss isn't just a follower, as I had originally thought, but she needs more development. Am I the only one who notices that all of the characters are rich, beautiful and successful?

The series can also be somewhat confusing, partly because each chapter follows a different character, and partly because there's all sorts of betrayal going on.

I do think that the author's style of writing fits the series. De La Cruz obviously knows New York City and the ways of the world of high fashion.

Brisingr

Reviewed by: gothiclolitamaiden, 15
Rating: It was alright...

Warning: Spoilers!

It's impossible to read the Inheritance books without thinking that they are somewhat like a crossover fanfiction. Elements from Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are mashed together to create Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr. Still, the series is enjoyable. Paolini's writing is well suited to the series, and some of the characters are really interesting, the key word is "some." I find Eragon rather bland, though Saphira more than makes up for that. Arya and Nasuada are also really fascinating, though I suspect that Arya is Paolini's ideal girlfriend that he subconsciously wrote into the story. However, I must complain about Oromis. Has anyone else noticed that Oromis is a typical mentor figure? He's wise, calm, and he eventually dies. I was hoping that this pattern would not repeat once again.

I really don't mind long books, but Brisingr is very dull in the beginning and middle. Another problem I have with these books is that only hardcore fantasy fans can truly enjoy them, they don't appeal to fans of other genres, even if there is some action and romance. It seems to me that the author has been to one too many Renaissance fairs....

Okay, there probably isn't one person below the age of sixteen in America that has not heard of Twilight, the first of the four-book saga. It is a phenomonon, a new era, and I hope just a phase.

Besides the complete lack of an interesting plotline, its characters are unrealistic and remain in the rudimentary stages of character developement. Sadly, most teens are more concerned with the fact that it is their ultimate daydream, rather than an actual well-written, intriguing literary work.

Yes, vampires are cool. Yes, alot of us would be out-of-our-minds if we ever met one, let alone gained a close relationship with a few. But after the scenario is set (vampire falls for human), what more is there? The book seems as if some teen with underdeveloped writing skills simply tossed together some random fantasies she's had.

The attention the story got, and is currently getting, is absolutely ridiculous, especially when books like Harry Potter (J.K Rowling) or Mediator (Med Cabot, true examples of brilliant writing, are out there. All I can wish for is that this is simply a phase.

Looking for a good comedy? Then the Lucky☆Star anime is definitely one to consider.

Lucky☆Star follows the story of four high school girls - Konata, the otaku who stays up all night watching anime, reading manga, and playing online games; Miyuki, the cute, highly intelligent, eyeglass-wearing klutz; Kagami, the hardworking but fiery-tempered one; and Tsukasa, Kagami's airhead fraternal twin.

Though some people find the series to be boring, I found it to be very amusing. I think a certain type of humor is needed to enjoy this series, as it often gets it's comedic situations from little things in life. For example, the series starts out with Konata, Miyuki, and Tsukasa discussing how to eat a chocolate cornet - eat it from the tail, the head, or tear off the top and dip it in the chocolate? But then, which side is the head?

I definitely wouldn't suggest this anime to everyone. However, for those who enjoy random humor such as this, it's something that should definitely be watched.

I'd seen this series lying around at the library a few times, but never was eager to read it. However after deciding to get into some new series rather than rereading countless older ones, I decided to give it a try. After reading this first volume, I was immediately hooked.

The story is set in the Victorian era in England. It focuses on a nobleman named Cain, who has a high interest in different types of poison.

Through all the series I've read, I don't think I've ever found one so unique. Kaori Yuki combines a lot of different things into the story, twisting even old nursery rhymes into the theme of most chapters. Though that could be an element that might work in a cutesy type manga, this definitely isn't the cutesy type of story, and Yuki does an amazing job twisting them into a horror manga.

All the chapters in the story focusing around different mysteries having to do with poison may seem like it would get repetitive to read. However that isn't the case with this series, as Yuki makes each chapter just as interesting as the last.

GIMMICAL☆IMPACT!!

Though LM.C's activities have not gone on long (the band officially began activities in August of 2006), they have become widely popular. Namely among anime fans, as their music has landed a spot as openings and endings of anime such as Red Garden and Katekyo Hitman Reborn.

LM.C has a lot of talent, and their newest album, GIMMICAL☆IMPACT!!, just showcases that talent even more.

The first track on the album, RAINBOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA, is a unique song indeed. It mixes funky sound effects in the background of dark tune played by an orchestra. The song has no vocal accompaniment from their vocalist, Maya, but no vocals are needed, otherwise it would take away from the rest of the song.

The second song, CHEMICAL KING-TWOON, doesn't fail to deliver either. Both members of the band have the chance to sing in this one, the guitarist, Aiji, having his own rap parts twice during the song. The tune itself is one that would surely be enjoyable to any rock fan.

Tracks such as Galileo, TABOO, and JOKER -my name is-, showcase the unique-ness of the band well. Many of their songs incorporate bits of techno and rap into it while the tune itself can alternate between a darker tone to a slower more easy-going tone.

Other new tracks on the album like Love me? and my girl, are beautiful additions to the CD. They have a more romantic tone to them, and are sure to warm your heart.

Of course, the album wouldn't be complete without some of LM.C'S more previously released singles such as 88, Bell the CAT, and JOHN. This is definitely something all LM.C fans, old or new, should own. Of course, if you're someone who is thinking of giving them a try, it's highly recommended as well.

Twilight

Twilight

This book is the start of a series that has become immensely popular these days. But what I don't understand is why.

Now I'm not saying that the book is bad. I enjoyed it a little. However the amount of praise and legions of fans it's getting is going a little overboard. Though a 'little' overboard is a huge understatement.

When you think about it, the plot of Twilight is basically the same as any other vampire romance story. Male vampire and female human fall in love, human wants to become a vampire so they can be together forever, etc. The fact that the setting is 'modern' isn't anything new either. Look at the TV Series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." But at least that had more originality than this.

I will give Meyer some credit for originality, however, in the case of the sparkling. One thing I always look forward to when reading or watching something with vampires in it, is what they choose to do with the old myth of vampires burning in the sun. Some leave it with that, some have them nocturnal, some just don't like the sun, and the list goes on. This is the first time I've seen someone come up with the idea of vampires sparkling in the sunlight, though. While some may not have thought this idea very good, I am one who really loves sparkly things, so it was a plus for me.

Unfortunately I have to drop back into criticisms. For one, there's the ever-so constant describing of Edward's "beauty". He is very handsome. He has topaz eyes. He's graceful. He has a beautiful smile. That, and quite a few other things mentioned, are all very nice and all - BUT WE GET IT ALREADY. There is no need to repeat yourself five million times, even if the book is told from Bella's perspective.

Second - how emo can Bella's character be? It seems like a lot of the time we hear about how oh-so miserable her life is. And then right into the over flattery of Edward making her life just ~wonderful~.

Those being my main irks in the book, I see it fit to stop there. I won't say this book is necessarily bad, though. It more depends on how picky you are. If you enjoy romance stories even if the plot is nothing new, then it's probably a book you will like. For those who like more action or prefer books with a more unique story, then it's not for you.

She hovered over his bed as she watched him type the next novel to his series, awakening misery from her death, death, the one thing this novel wished for than staying trapped with his kidnapper who saved his life with her foul breath.

I thought that this book was okay, it was a bit slow, and couldnt keep my attention. I only kept reading it to see if anything better happens. There is gore and horror in this book, but not much to an approval of someone who wants nightmares, and images of them.

He was not very descriptive with it, I could barly see what his kidnapper looked like, only by what she dressed in.

It still has that shock in it and your heart is racing, your chest hurting as you hold your breath as you await to see what happens.

But there is not much to it. There isnt really a plot to it, just something scary, which it really didnt accomplish.

The howls of the crazed forest spooking Louis as he carries a heavy black trash bag and shovel, down to the ancient indian burial ground.

I thought this book was ok, it was a bit slow, but really graphic which made it worth while. I thought it was a good orror book, even though i have read better.
I think it had a good life learning theme to it.

There isnt much else to say about it except for that it was slow, but descriptive and keeps your heart racing

Schuyler has just learned a new secret of the snobby, fancy and rich classmates. The blue bloods, an ancient group of vampires.

I thought that this book was ok, it was a bit slow and boring, but thats just me. It stays interesting, and doesnt get sidetracked. It has a bit of horror and romance to it, but more of mystery to it.

once you read this book, you want to continue onto the second, but not like "I WANT IT NOW!!"

Te book had interesting charecters, and a good plot, but i think De La could of done better with the descriptions. I think this book is jus to get you started, and the second really gets into the story and plot.
