Haley's mother goes missing during a trip to Iceland. After a year, when Haley too visits Iceland, she discovers how her mother disappeared and gets ensnared in her ancestors' centuries-old world of magic and folklore. I found it neat how the book was set in Iceland, because that appears to be an uncommon setting for a story to take place in. The overall storytelling was vivid and beautiful, and the way the characters from myth came alive was fascinating. I love the author's voice and will most certainly be checking some of her other books out. In all, 'Thief Eyes' is definitely a must-read for those who like Norse mythology.

Elizah has recently moved to upstate New York and just wants to be alone. That is, until she meets the mysterious Nathaniel in the graveyard her mother Part of the reason why I thought this book was so good was that I could very easily relate to and empathize with the main character. She is very unlike most other female main characters, which she even states in the very first part of the book. I have never come across a female character quite like Elizah. Overall, I found the story's being told from her uncommon view of life to be very refreshing. The other part of why I enjoyed this book is that I just like books that are about ghosts. Anne Spollen did an excellent job of blending reality with darker supernatural aspects, and in doing so, made her book unforgettable in my eyes. All in all, I would gladly recommend this book to someone, just as long as they don't need something to be lighthearted in order to enjoy it.

Kalinka is a Jewish girl from Ukraine who is trying to flee the Nazis who killed her family. Temujin and Borte are very rare Przewalski's horses, who also must escape the German army or be killed. Together, horses and girl, along with a loyal wolfhound, must cross the harsh Ukranian steppes to safety before they are caught by the Nazis. "The Winter Horses" combines World War II and horses, two things I find very interesting. The story was really fascinating. I found on multiple occasions that I couldn't put the book down. My only complaint is that the Przewalski's horses seemed far too intelligent than would be considered normal for any horse, even this amazingly cunning breed. I was very skeptical about what these horses could accomplish at times. The supreme storytelling in the other areas of the book did make up for this, though, along the fact that two things I really like reading about were both featured equally in this book. In my opinion this definitely a recommended read.

In the riveting story about true love and redemption, Francine Rivers weaves together the story about Angel, who was sold into prostitution at a young age and has lost everything about her identity down to her very name to men who want nothing more than to sleep with her.Guarding herself, she builds walls, expecting only to be hurt by these men. Until one day, a man named Hosea falls in love with her, but not like the other men. He loves her for nothing else than who she truly is, looking past the identity both the men and herself has given to her as a prostitute, but as someone beautiful both inside and out. I wept. This book made me wept. Not just at the end, but the middle and even the very beginning. Full. on. weeping. This book showed a love unlike any other. Minor spoiler alert: This book got a little tiring at one point, because Hosea would never give up on her, no matter what happened. He loved her despite her past. She slept with her father, could never have children (a dream Michael Hosea always wanted), and slept even with his brother. Yet, he gave his full love, continuously, every moment.
