Riiko looked at the large box, amazed that her nightly lover igure has arrived so soon. Opening it with curiosity, knowing not of what she was getting herself in, finds a handsome naked young man in the box, cold as a corpse. Shocked, thinking it was a joke, recieves a phone call by the man who sold it to her, telling her of the manuel. Reicieving the manual, learning that she must kiss him to wake him. After kissing him, she can hear his heart pumping as he awoke, smiling up at her, "Hello girlfriend"

This series has alot of twist and turns, making you want more and more. Confused about whats right or wrong in the book, or who you should consider the villian or hero.
At times you cant stop laughing, while at other times, your heart just stops in love.

*wipes away tears* I think this is one of the best romance novels i have ever read, i dont think it has much meaning to it though, except to go for what you want, not holding back. The art work is amazing, very well done with great style and quality.

Chrono Crusade Volume 1

Chrono Crusade Volume 1

By: Daisuke Moriyama
Reviewed by: gothiclolitamaiden, 15
Rating: Really liked it

Chrono Crusade is about Rosette Christopher, a demon-exorcising nun, and her assistant, the demon Chrono. The plot may seem unoriginal at first and the art is more functional than eye-catching, but the series makes up for that with interesting characters and intricately detailed character designs (Chrono's true form is almost drool-worthy).

The author obviously did his research on Catholic doctrine and mythology before writing the series, though it is somewhat unrealistic. For example, exorcists don't generally use guns (last I checked) and some of the outfits look more Victorian than 1920s.

One problem I have with the series is that there is no established antagonist as of the first volume. I'm hoping that a worthy bad guy or guys will emerge in following volumes. The relationship between Rosette and Chrono is both intriguing and comedic. I look forward to learning more about the characters' back stories. The author uses a lot of backgrounds, but some panels still go without them.

Another problem is fanservice. There are a lot of shots of Rosette's skirt flying up (sometimes she's wearing bloomers to preserve her modesty, sometimes she's...not). I still can't figure out how old Rosette really is. The full color art in the beginning is a nice bonus, and the comic in the back is unrelated to the story, but funny.

The Truth About Forever

The Truth About Forever

This is one of Sarah Dessen's newer books, and you don't need to hav read any of her others before picking this one up, though you may want to read the other ones immediately after finishing this one! Sarah Dessen is, in my opinion, just as if not more addictive than Stephanie Meyer. I know, hard to believe, right? The book starts out with a girl named Macy Queen who unfortunately had to watch her father die. This is what people in town know her as, until she reinvents herself through working with an eccentric group of people in a catering business. Her mother doesn't exactly approve, and Macy starts having problems with her boyfriend around the time Macy's mother stats disapproving. This is a fairly light read; it's not very hard to understand, though it may make you cry near the end. It's funny, sad, and meaningful, all rolled into one fantastic piece of literature.

Revelations: A Blue Bloods Novel

Revelations: A Blue Bloods Novel

By: Melissa De La Cruz
Reviewed by: gothiclolitamaiden, 15
Rating: Really liked it

The Blue Bloods series takes place in New York, where an upper class composed of vampires runs the city behind the scenes. Revelations is the third book in the Blue Bloods series, and like its predecessors, it leaves the reader on a cliffhanger. (Side Note: I went on De La Cruz's website and looked at her writing tips, not surprisingly, she recommended the use of cliffhangers.) The series is very interesting, full of intrigue, tangled up romantic relationships and some action. However, the author, instead of developing her characters, uses well-known character stereotypes.

Mimi is the typical mean girl (stylish, cruel and determined to have her way), which is evident from the beginning, Oliver is the loyal friend who has a crush on his best friend, Lawrence is the grandfather figure, and Jack is the talented and crush-worthy bad boy who catches the heroine's heart. Some of the characters, instead of being stereotypes, are barely developed at all, including Schuyler, Bliss, and Dylan. I am thankful that Bliss isn't just a follower, as I had originally thought, but she needs more development. Am I the only one who notices that all of the characters are rich, beautiful and successful?

The series can also be somewhat confusing, partly because each chapter follows a different character, and partly because there's all sorts of betrayal going on.

I do think that the author's style of writing fits the series. De La Cruz obviously knows New York City and the ways of the world of high fashion.

Brisingr

Brisingr

By: Christopher Paolini
Reviewed by: gothiclolitamaiden, 15
Rating: It was alright...

Warning: Spoilers!

It's impossible to read the Inheritance books without thinking that they are somewhat like a crossover fanfiction. Elements from Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are mashed together to create Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr. Still, the series is enjoyable. Paolini's writing is well suited to the series, and some of the characters are really interesting, the key word is "some." I find Eragon rather bland, though Saphira more than makes up for that. Arya and Nasuada are also really fascinating, though I suspect that Arya is Paolini's ideal girlfriend that he subconsciously wrote into the story. However, I must complain about Oromis. Has anyone else noticed that Oromis is a typical mentor figure? He's wise, calm, and he eventually dies. I was hoping that this pattern would not repeat once again.

I really don't mind long books, but Brisingr is very dull in the beginning and middle. Another problem I have with these books is that only hardcore fantasy fans can truly enjoy them, they don't appeal to fans of other genres, even if there is some action and romance. It seems to me that the author has been to one too many Renaissance fairs....
