When mysterious letters swarm a small town in England saying nasty things about people, the village dwellers aren’t worried. But when a woman commits suicide because of a letter that says she’s cheating on her husband, newcomers Joanna and Jerry Burton start to wonder who’s behind such malevolent letters. This brother and sister duo has to find clues to solve this mystery; maybe with a little help from Miss Marple.

Agatha Christie’s third Miss Marple book doesn’t fail to please. Miss Marple is absent for most of the mystery but shows up just in time to help in the end. But the two main characters Joanna and Jerry handle the sleuthing well. The book ends on a high note where a few characters end up getting married, which is a different ending for Christie’s mysteries. Overall it is a captivating book that will keep you thinking.

Also remember that the Miss Marple books are independent stories so you can read them out of order unless I mention otherwise!
