This is a great book about a man who's going to college and rents a room with a family. The family is Liz, who is grown, and Lucy, her daughter. David, the tenant, finds out that Liz makes clay dragons and puts them around the house or sells them. When Liz makes him a dragon, it starts to give him advice in his mind. David also helps Lucy find squirrels that used to live in their backyard (especially one named Conker), and find out how Conker got his eye hurt. Later, David gets upset with Gadzooks, his special dragon, and has to save his dragon from shedding a fire tear and dying. Along the way they also meet a girl named Sophie that works at an animal hospital who helps them with the squirrels. I liked this book because it has good characters, a good plot, and is very well written.
Recommended to: People who want a good book that doesn't have fighting.
