Ruby lives with her sister, and her brother-in-law. That would be great, if Ruby didn't have such a hard time accepting help form other people. So when Nate, her new next-door neighbor starts offering her rides to school, of course she can't accept them... right? Lock and Key is a great book, about learning that even though independence is good, too much is not good. This book has a good lesson about learning to humble yourself and step outside your comfort zone.
