The story of a fourteen year old girl named, Mattie Cook. Since the yellow fever broke out and causes many deaths in the city she lives in, she starts going through many hard times. The city has spread with the disease and she has to try and survive and stay away from everyone around her. Even her mother ends up getting the dangerous fever. She has to leave the city eventually so she can be kept safe but she realizes that the sickness is everywhere around her. This book was really good, I really felt sad for Mattie.
