lord of the rings is four books,starting with bilbo baggins in the hobbit,and ending with frodo baggins in return of the king.Lord of the rings is about hobbits,elves,dwarfes,wizards,magic,and adventure revoling around the one ring to rule them all.
Recommended to: ages 10-up

I've only read the first two books, and I found them very boring, no offense. The story and characters are pretty good, but the author makes references to all sorts of historical events and gives us no background on the history of the Lord of the Rings universe whatsoever. I may end up reading the Two Towers, eventually.
