Esperanza Rising was a beautifully-written book, in my opinion. It's about a girl named Esperanza Ortega, who lived on El Rancho de las Rosas in Aguascalientes, Mexico in the 1920s. She was surrounded by servants, beautiful dresses, and people that adore her. She is sweet, smart, and rich - and later possesses the fine quality of courage throughout the story. Conflicts arise when her family has flee Mexico because jealous wealthy bankowner Tio swore to make life miserable for her family and her because her mother did not marry him. Esperanza's poor father was killed because of this.

Throughout the story, there are many twists and turns of adventures. The title fits with the book because Esperanza is "rising" above all her life problems. This was a book you would not be able to put down. As I said, this book was written quite beautifully and the book should earn more readers. It's quite a read!
