There were nine of them, Garde from the planet Lorien, but numbers one, two and three are dead. Four is next. "John Smith", the name number four is going by in his new location, Paradise, Ohio, is on the move. After discovering that three is now dead, "John" moves to Ohio to try and evade the Mogadorians, the aliens from Lorien's neighbor planet, who destroyed Lorien and have now come to destroy earth and the grade. The difficult part is that they must kill the Garde in numerical order. "John" begins to lay roots in Ohio, something he has never done before, knowing the dangers this might present him. Sure, enough trouble comes knocking... will "John" untangle himself from Ohio, and escape before it is too late, or is number five on the run now? I really enjoyed the book; however, I though the ending was a bit lacking. Looking forward to starting book 2, The Power of Six.
