A sweet Amish novel about a girl who turned bitter. Miriam Stotzfus is bitter (as I just said). Known as the old maid schoolteacher with a heart of stone, she lives a lonely life. Ever since William Graber, her childhood sweetheart, had moved away and married another, her heart has been broken. Amos Hilty has tried to get Miriam to let him court her, but she’s sure that he only wants a mother for his daughter and a wife for convenience. When she meets charming Nick McCormick, an Englischer (non-Amish person), she’s attracted to him. Which life will she choose?
