The princess tales is a collection of three classic retelling fairytales such as Sleeping beauty and Cinderella.
Even though I am not into Princess's (I have my reasons), this book I suprisingly enjoy. It makes me laugh, and I seriously love to reread it.
It start's off with "The fairy's mistake", which is a like spin off of Cinderella. There are two twin sisters, named Rosella and Myrtle. Rosella is the servant (aka cinderella) and Myrtle and the Mom make her life awful. Until one day a fairy named Ethelinda makes "jewels" come out of Rosella's mouth. While Myrtle has "bugs" come out of her mouth. There is a prince and a happily ever after, but it's not your typical one. It's humorous.
Then we have "The princess test" and " Princess Sonora and the long sleep", both a spin off of The princess and the Pea, and Sleeping Beauty. It's just as funny as the other story. It is original and something magical about Gail Carson Levine's writing, that brings the story to a whole new level of "Ever after". Yes there is the typical charming Prince (in a sense), but it isn't so like the orginial stories. Though I did have a slight bother with the Princess's ages. They get married pretty young, and it makes me wonder when will that same ole same ole' be done with. People can argue that it is pretty normal in the realm of princess stories, but in reality, it's off. Haha. Anyway it IS a fairytale, but still. All in all, the book is good.
