Eleven year old Nate feels neglected and useless to father after an accident breaks his left leg, unabling him to do any farm work. When an orphan boy named John Worth is taken in by his father to help on the farm, Nate feels even worse. Jealous that John has taken over his work, Nate also thinks that John is taking away his father's attention away from him even more. John is also still greiving over the death of his family and the city life he used to live. However, they discover a connection that sheds a ray of hope that there might be enough space for the two of them on the farm.

It's a really sweet and touching story, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
