Second Chance Summer

Taylor Edwards never felt like she stood out-except for her history of running away when things get too complicated. Then her dad receives unexpected, terrible news, and the family makes the last-minute decision to spend the summer together in the cramped quarters at their old lake house. Taylor hasn't been to the summerhouse since she was twelve, and she definitely never planned on going back. Up at the lake she is confronted with people she thought she left behind, like her former best friend Lucy, and Henry Crosby, her first crush, who's all grown up. Suddenly Taylor is surrounded by memories she'd rather leave in the past-but she can't run away this time. Will she get her second chances? I love this book because it is all about facing what you ran away from and treasuring the gift of a second chance given to you. This book can teach young girls an important lesson about doing so

Rating: It was amazing!

America Singer has just received a notice stating that the prince of Illéa, Maxon Schreave, will be holding the Selection, a competition for the prince's hand and a crown. Despite pressure from her mother and sister, May, America has no interest in entering the competition, because she already has Aspen, her secret boyfriend. Aspen's begging America to take up the opportunity at a better life, plus a bribe from her mother, leads America to entering the Selection and later into the palace where she has to compete with 34 other girls to win the prince's heart. I like this book because America goes through many hardships and confusing thoughts. She starts to love Maxon but wants to stay close with Aspen. This book reminds me of the Bachelor and Hunger Games mixed together.

This book is about Peyton Honeycutt, a teenage transgender boy growing up in a small town in North Carolina. Everyone assumes he's a lesbian and he has trouble communicating why that doesn't feel right to him at first. But he meets a girl who sees him for who he really is. She helps him embrace the fact that he's a trans boy. It's a beautiful love story.
