Eragon. Where do I begin? Chris Paolini has not created a world on the level of Middle Earth but he came quite close. The story begins with an unlikey hero (how else?); Eragon. Eragon is just a farm boy, but one day he finds a blue stone at the foot of the Spine, a long mountain range that has kept his village from the tyranny of the King. There's just one problem. That stone isn't a stone. It's an egg.

Eragon has just become Alagaesia's first Dragon Rider in a long, long time. And by doing so he has opened up a BIG can o' worms. Now weird creatures are trying to kill him, by order of King Galbotorix, his dragon is growing way to big, and a crotchety old man is telling him what to do.
