The outsiders is the story of several kids from different backgrounds and social clicks that really feels for what many children experience today. It is in the first person and is narrated by a boy named Ponyboy Curtis. The book shows life from his perspective and in doing so really connects with the situation. The books connection to the characters and smooth flowing and capturing plot make this book a must read for anyone who has ever been a kid.And for the less bookish there is also a movie.

Also even strong readers will find this book challenging and make them slow down and savor it.Furthermore this book is very intellectual and delves into codes, secret societies, and even a some hardcore action .These reasons coupled with the magnificent storyline make the Da Vinci Code an awesome book.

This book is a monthly installment of different recipes, and different events that happens in the life of Tita.

Hmm where to start, haha. Okay well, this story is interesting in concept wise. It's about a girl named Tita who is a good cook. She falls in love with Pedro, but her Mom forbids marriage because she has to take care of her until she dies.

What is interesting is that Tita's emotions transmits itself into the food she prepares. It can be little off, but it's creative if you give it a chance. It's important to note though, that Tita's world is during the time of the Mexican Revolution. It's on key with the history of it, within the book. I liked that the mexican culture is present through out the story (well of course, Tita is a Mexican woman).

The themes in this story is pretty obvious to catch, Tita growing up, and breaking the hold of tradition that was brought unto her. That I liked. She grew as a character. Okay now on to the negative aspects of the story. Yes there was romance in it, but I didn't like the "sexual" part of it. Like I said before, the emotions are transmited through the food. And well imagine when that type of scene came, it was not really appetizing (I am being sort of sarcastic).

I honestly thought she should have stayed with John brown, because Pedro didn't seem right for her. So that was a disappointment. So yes, it's a story of love, romance and history in it's own. I don't hate the book, but it was not my favorite either.

Lizzie Bingman is a 14 year old girl, who thinks women should be treated equal. She makes a bet with her brothers about it, and finds herself tangled in a series of unfortunate events.

I really love this book. When I first read it, she reminded me of myself. We share the name "Lizzie" and have the same outlook about things. Difference is, she is living in a time where woman were still didn't have the right to vote. The joy.

The theme (I think) in this book, is "growing up" in the sense that you see things differently, in the view that you hold. It's interesting how the author made Lizzie a feminist, yet she questions her own self, in a world that believed woman were "things".

For example, she has a crush like romance with Teddy. One night on her birthday, he gave her a kiss. She liked it (haha the romance!), yet she wasn't sure if she liked the control he had when he pulled her to him. Interesting story moments like this, makes you feel that Lizzie is a identifiable character. She IS a teenage girl (with feminist thinking), so of course it makes sense that she would question the very nature of "how much does men control".

I think Lizzie's character, is an example of woman in that time (well anytime I suppose, but this is a specific movement that changed the world) that had those thoughts, that challenged society and one's self. However, she is not the only one that had a good character development. Her brother Jack was an opposing aspect of what women were and weren't.

In conclusion, I probably would have liked a different ending, but it was still good. I can't complain. This book had adventure, some romance, and a very important topic that girls today shouldn't forget. It's our history.

In ninteenth Century England, Elizabeth (known as 'Bet') can't help but feel anger in the world she lives in. Because of her gender, she is denied the education that she really desires. So just like the strong girl she is, she get's it. With unexpected events of course.

This book really spoke to me. I seriously LOVE these types of books, because I'm a feminist myself. Okay so anyway, I felt that this book has a good sense of style to it. Elizabeth is amusing, and she doesn't lose her "feminine" side (this is important to a lot of people, because some think being a feminist does the opposite. People vary.) What I mean by this, is that she doesn't do what she does, just for the sake of wanting to be a man. She want's the same opportunities that they have. She has a strong sense of self, and will do anything to get what she wants. Even if that means going as her best friend Will, to an other school. Yes you heard it, she goes under disguise as a male. It's humorous and I think the reader will find it easy to relate, and to really imagine being in her shoes.

She falls in love with her roomate, and I think it's amusing. You will see expected issues, like for example with what comes being a "female" each month. It's amazing how she doesn't give up, she is a fighter. It makes you appreciate that woman now can have that, and it rings as a inspirational story I believe. The question that comes up as you read this is- how much are you willing to go, to prove that a gender shouldn't be a barrier for one's intelligence?

Indeed, I would have liked a better ending. But all in all, it was a good read.

Empire of Night

Empire of Night

By: Justin Somper

Empire Night is the 5th book in the Vampirate Series. It follows Connor and Grace's conflict between their bloodline, and what they thought they stood for.

Oh wow, I thought I was completly done with this series (considering I couldn't stand Grace anymore, I decided to call it quits). But I saw the book at the library, shinning with hope. So I checked it out, and I wasn't totally disappointed. Let's see why. So Connor and Grace found out in the other book that they are related to Sidorio. So now Sidorio is planning to over the high seas, with his group of dangerous vampires. It's a war right now, between good and evil. They are sent on a mission to join their father (as spies, to gather info), but are quickly drawn into the group of vampirates.

Woah, just wow. I couldn't put the book down, it got interesting. What you will find here, is new friends and enemies. Some of the characters (Lorcan Furey, Darcy, etc) mature more in their characters, and a lot of questions are being asked. Yes indeed folks, Grace still annoys me. Like I said before, Connor to me, seems more of a sensible character. Grace is like the "sensless female" in the story, in my opinion. It's so typical, to be honest. Though she is slightly different in this book, but you will find that she too has a dark side. You know, Connor's life is more real and more interesting than Grace's. 'Surprise' is the word that comes into my into my mind, when describing this book. A lot of twist and turns, the author does a good job laying out the plot and character developments through out the story. Props to the author who made soome action female(s) in this story.

Though....I do have a problem with the ages of Lorcan (though he is no Edward Cullen, thank goodness!) and Grace. He is 17 ( he's like a 100 years old or something), and Grace is 14 in this book. It's just ODD, she is still young and naiive for calling out loud! Let's take for example, Connor. He is in love with Jasmine, who is around his age. I just don't get why it's this pattern of > Young girl falls in love with vampire > he's older than her > it's a love story. Eh well true, compared to other books, she is much younger than most female-in-love-with-vampire character(s). It's off really.

On a fun note, their is a new ally, who is a mermaid. Pretty neat, huh? SO many twist and turns, especially Sidorio's wife and her new 'baby'. Romance is in the air, and a lot of relationships are on the line. What does that mean for the tempest twins and their friends? Well I can't wait to find out.

The Princess Tales, Vol. 1

The princess tales is a collection of three classic retelling fairytales such as Sleeping beauty and Cinderella.

Even though I am not into Princess's (I have my reasons), this book I suprisingly enjoy. It makes me laugh, and I seriously love to reread it.
It start's off with "The fairy's mistake", which is a like spin off of Cinderella. There are two twin sisters, named Rosella and Myrtle. Rosella is the servant (aka cinderella) and Myrtle and the Mom make her life awful. Until one day a fairy named Ethelinda makes "jewels" come out of Rosella's mouth. While Myrtle has "bugs" come out of her mouth. There is a prince and a happily ever after, but it's not your typical one. It's humorous.

Then we have "The princess test" and " Princess Sonora and the long sleep", both a spin off of The princess and the Pea, and Sleeping Beauty. It's just as funny as the other story. It is original and something magical about Gail Carson Levine's writing, that brings the story to a whole new level of "Ever after". Yes there is the typical charming Prince (in a sense), but it isn't so like the orginial stories. Though I did have a slight bother with the Princess's ages. They get married pretty young, and it makes me wonder when will that same ole same ole' be done with. People can argue that it is pretty normal in the realm of princess stories, but in reality, it's off. Haha. Anyway it IS a fairytale, but still. All in all, the book is good.

At first, part of their motive is to save her family from losing their daughter. But that soon disappears and it's just about letting Kezi and Olus stay together. They don't really care about her family anymore. The ending is just disapointing. I'm sorry, but life is too full of sad endings. I read to find happier ones.
