Taggerung

This is one of the, if not the best, books in the Redwall series. As opposed to being three books covering a great siege or a mass rebellion against tryannical slavery, we come to differing plot line... Deyna (an otter), is taken captive by a tribe of Juska (wandering vermin) while he was taken with his father for a ceremony of particular importance to otters, he is captured because he is the next Taggerung (a great Juska warrior). He spent fifteen seasons in captivity he runs away after his adoptive father, a powerful chieftain, drove him to do something he wouldn't fream of, so he fled. On his journey he befriends a few wanderers and small tribes, and learns about his true heritage. All in all it is a good read.

Best friends share everything right? Clothes, food, memories, etc. Its like in the best friend rule book to let your best friend borrow something since you know they'll give it back(eventually). What if your best friend asks to borrow your boyfriend? This is exactly what happens in this novel. Ava, in need of a date to her sister's wedding since her boyfriend dumped her, asks her best friend if she can "borrow" Jason for the evening. The events aren't surprising yet they are incredibly amusing. They are possible yet bizarre. Funny yet complicated, like it always is when a writer pushes together two characters that really dislike each other. In this story of loyalty and teenage drama, Ava finds herself wondering how she'll be able to give Jason back to her best friend when its clear he's everything she'd been searching for. A great story to share with your best friend with an interesting twist at the end.

Perhaps because she is such a young writer, the author has a great imagination and is able to portray the characters in such a clear and descriptive way. She came up with this great story that can be thought of in different contexts. For example, difference in races(in this book its not ethnicities, but shapeshifter races),a war that no one remembers how it got started or why its still going on,an arranged marriage, berayal, and falling in love with the person you least thought possible. Danica, the main character, is part of the avian shapeshifters. Shane is part of the serpentine people. They are from two different cultures, two different worlds, that refuse to come together due to a strong prejudice. Together they must(reluctantly) get to trust each other in order to bring peace to their people and maybe find love along the way.

You don't have to believe in "reincarnation" in order undertand the plot. You don't need to think of it in a religious context in order to enjoy the romance and history that goes on throughout the story. I love how the story changes settings adn time periods throughout the whole book. This is a great romance novel. It tells the story of four teenagers, two girls and two boys, starting from prehistoric times. Then since its obvious that the four people need a second chance to get their lives right, they reincarnate. This happens throught the story and you can see how the characters slowly remember each other and what types of things they do in order to fix their mistakes. It was very inspiring and the message basically is, "If at first you don't succeed ,try again."
